Sex on the Beach

Summer is almost upon us and with the arrival of the hot season, the desire for fresh and thirst-quenching cocktails is also growing, which recall distant exotic atmospheres. Among the most famous and loved cocktails of the summer, there is certainly the Sex on the Beach , which perhaps also for the mischievous and winking name, always remains among the most loved and drunk in the world. His ability to evoke images of the sun, white beaches and turquoise sea, seems to know no crisis. Its fruity, not excessively alcoholic and very refreshing character makes it ideal even on the hottest days.

The cocktail was born between the seventies and eighties, when Vodka began to become fashionable in the United States and consequently the consumption of all the long drinks that used it as a base also spread. During the same period, the use of fruity cocktails also spread, such as Tequila Sunrise or Cape Codder, which brought to the fore a new taste in the art of mixology. It seems that the cocktail was initially known by the less intriguing names of Peach on the Beach or Fun on the Beach, but soon it took on the name much more captivating and spicy than Sex on the Beach. A name that cleverly combines two words that summarize two wishes linked to the idea of holidays and summer: sex and the beach. Sex on the Beach belongs to the vast family of Vodka-based cocktails and, in addition to the intriguing and mischievous name, owes its success to its fresh and fruity taste.

Ingredients

• 4 cl of Vodka,
• 2 cl of Peach Schnapps,
• 4 cl of orange juice,
• 4 cl of cranberry juice.

Preparation

Preparation is also fast. Just shake the Vodka, Peach Schnapps and orange juice together and then pour them into a high tumbler full of ice. Then add the cranberry juice without mixing. In this way, the thick blueberry juice will settle on the bottom of the glass, creating a dark red layer. Finally garnish the cocktail with an orange slice.

The taste is very pleasant thanks to the perfect balance between the citrus freshness of orange juice, the soft and sweet nuances of peach liqueur and the acid component of blueberry juice. The presence of vodka is pleasantly diluted in the fruity profile of the cocktail, remaining in the background, without making you feel a too incisive alcoholic presence.
