Where is the Rhône Valley located?

The Rhône Valley is located in the southeast of France, stretching along the Rhône River from the city of Lyon to the Mediterranean Sea. The main AOC appellations are: Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage, Côte-Rôtie, Cornas, St.-Joseph, Condrieu, and Château-Grillet. Côte-Rôtie and Hermitage are the most famous.

Southern Rhône: This area is famous for its robust and spicy red wines, often made from a blend of grapes such as Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre. The wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape are among the most celebrated, known for their complex structure, ripe fruit aromas, Provencal herbs, and spices. The white and rosé wines produced here are also highly appreciated for their freshness and versatility.

The most important appellations are: Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Côtes-du-Rhône, Côtes-du-Rhône-Villages, Beaumes-de-Venise, and Tavel.
