The Distillery has a long history behind it, founded in 1959 in Venuzuela by the international company LUSA, one of the main companies in the sector worldwide. In 2002, LUSA's assets were put up for sale and the Diplomàtico brand was acquired by a group of Venezuelan entrepreneurs united under the acronym Destilerías Unidas (DUSA). Today Rum Diplomàtico is known as one of the best excellences in the world and is exported to around sixty countries. The Distillery is located in a strategic position, at the foot of the Andes mountain range, close to sources of pure water and the best areas where sugar cane is grown. The climate, in terms of temperature and humidity, also proved to be perfect for the aging of Rums.

Diplomàtico Rums are famous for their refined elegance, combined with great aromatic complexity. Their label depicts Don Juancho Nieto Meléndez, a legendary man who supposedly travels around the world in search of the best Rums on the planet.
