Bag in box wine
Wine in a Bag-in-Box (commonly known as BiB) allows you to purchase a large quantity of wine that is easy to store and ready to use. A Bag-in-Box consists of a specially designed pouch ("Bag") that preserves the wine, enclosed within a cardboard or wooden box ("Box"). The pouch is equipped with a tap, making it simple to pour the wine into a carafe or directly into a glass. The boxes are usually fitted with plastic handles, making them easy to carry.
Bag-in-Box wines include still wines—white, red, and rosé.
The advantages of Bag-in-Box wine
Bag-in-Box wine offers several advantages. First and foremost, it ensures better preservation. Wine lasts longer in a Bag-in-Box than in an opened bottle, as it is protected from oxygen and light exposure. A sealed Bag-in-Box can keep wine fresh for up to 12 months, and once opened, it remains in optimal condition for up to 5 weeks. Thanks to the built-in tap, the wine can be poured without allowing air to enter, ensuring consistent quality from the first to the last glass.
Another key advantage is weight: 3 litres of wine in a Bag-in-Box is significantly lighter than transporting the same quantity in glass bottles.
Safety is also an important factor! A Bag-in-Box is easier to transport, for example, in a car boot, and there is no risk of broken glass.
Choosing Bag-in-Box wine is also a more sustainable option. Unlike glass bottles, the Bag-in-Box format helps reduce CO2 emissions.
