Description

What kind of wine is it

The Champagne Brut Royal from Pommery is a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. It offers a harmonious style, with freshness, structure and complexity in balance thanks to a moderate dosage. Bottle refermentation using the traditional method and ageing on the lees create a fine perlage and aromatic persistence that enhance its elegance.

Where it comes from

The grapes come from the Champagne region, particularly from the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims, and are selected from 40 villages. The continental climate, with cold winters and mild summers, favours slow ripening and high natural acidity. The chalk and clay soils contribute marked minerality and solid structure, giving the wine a distinctive aromatic profile.

How it is made

Production involves manual harvesting of the grapes at optimal ripeness, followed by gentle pressing and separation of the musts. The blending of the cuvées respects the house style. After the addition of the liqueur de tirage, the second fermentation in bottle is followed by an extended ageing on the lees, which develops complexity and finesse.

Tasting notes

On appearance it is straw yellow with golden highlights and a very fine, persistent perlage. On the nose, aromas of white flowers, citrus, fresh almond and a subtle note of bread crust emerge. On the palate it offers freshness and verve, supported by vibrant acidity. The palate is elegant, with hints of green apple and white peach, and a slightly saline, mineral finish that extends the length.

Food pairings

It lends itself to numerous pairings at the table. It works as an aperitif and accompanies seafood preparations such as oysters, shellfish and langoustines. It also pairs well with dishes of French cuisine, such as Coquilles Saint-Jacques gratinées and quiche Lorraine, and with delicate starters, cured meats, soft cheeses and light fish soups, where the wine’s freshness and structure find balance.

When to serve it

It is best appreciated in the first years after disgorgement, when it most clearly expresses freshness and aromatic vibrancy. Ageing on the lees allows for some bottle evolution and enriches toasty and nutty notes; a short rest in the cellar can offer a more complex profile to those seeking greater depth. For the holiday season, Pommery Brut Royal is offered in the Perù Edition gift box, part of the selection The World Art Collection - Perù 2026. The World Collection project celebrates a different culture each year, and this edition is decorated with motifs inspired by Peruvian culture, bringing a touch of colour to festive tables. It is a gift idea well-suited to end-of-year occasions.
