Description
Georges de Latour Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon by Beaulieu Vineyard is a historic red wine from Napa Valley, considered a benchmark for Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon since its debut in 1936. Made from Cabernet Sauvignon with a small percentage of Petit Verdot, it originates from a selection of the estate’s best vineyards, with particular focus on the BV Ranches No. 1 and No. 2, rooted in the well-drained alluvial soils of Rutherford.
The winemaking process combines technical precision with traditional methods, with a portion of the wine fermented in new French oak barriques to enhance integration and richness, while the rest ferments in steel and concrete to preserve the freshness of the fruit. After skin contact, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and ages for about twenty-two months in almost entirely new French oak, developing structure, depth, and complexity.
On the nose it is intense and refined, with notes of wild sage, blackcurrant, cedar, and fresh mint. The palate is broad and full-bodied, with layers of ripe blackberry, redcurrant, and rose petal, complemented by graphite, licorice root, stony minerality, dark chocolate, sandalwood, clove, and Ceylon cinnamon, all supported by silky, polished, and fine tannins, with a long finish marked by a cocoa powder texture.
It pairs elegantly with beef fillet, rack of lamb, or rich braised dishes, highlighting its depth, structure, and the finesse of its tannins.
