Description

What kind of wine it is

Anthìlia by Donnafugata is a Sicilian white wine made mainly from Catarratto grapes in a balanced blend. Belonging to the Sicilia denomination, it presents a defined and precise aromatic profile. Fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve the clarity of its aromas, on the palate it is a structured and complex wine enriched by a marked mineral imprint.

Where it comes from

This wine is produced at the Tenuta di Contessa Entellina, in the Casale Bianco locality. The area is situated in the heart of southwestern Sicily, where viticulture benefits from a bright and naturally suited terroir. The geographical position ensures a typically Mediterranean expression and a natural minerality that makes the profile coherent and widely recognizable.

How it is produced

The grape clusters are harvested and selected exclusively by hand, with great care from the very moment of picking. Fermentation takes place in steel containers at a controlled temperature between 14 and 16 °C, an ideal choice for preserving varietal aromas. This is followed by two months of tank aging and a further two months in the bottle before release.

Tasting notes

The wine displays a bright straw yellow color, typical of vinification without the use of wood. On the nose, it reveals a clear fruit profile, characterized by obvious aromas of pear, white peach, and grapefruit. On the palate, it is consistent and articulate, confirming a decisive character. A pronounced mineral streak accompanies the progression on the palate for an orderly and clean finish.

Food pairings

It pairs perfectly with dishes of smoked fish and shellfish, bringing out menus where savoriness and delicacy coexist. Its good structure makes it suitable for rich baked pasta dishes as it perfectly balances their textures. Thanks to the balance of its fruity aromas, it is also ideal with a Caesar salad or with fresh seafood appetizers.

When to serve it

This is a wine made for social occasions, when you are looking for an easy-drinking wine with solid character. Its lack of wood aging keeps the sip fragrant and is ideal for a seafood dinner. Designed to enhance fruit and mineral freshness, it enriches mealtimes and always maintains a strict gustatory balance.
