Description
This Alsatian white is obtained only from Gewürztraminer grapes harvested in the Grand Cru vineyard of Hengst, located south of Wintzenheim. The rather pronounced inclination of the reference hill favours a better exposure to sunlight which results in a richer maturation of aromatic substances. The soil composed mainly of limestone marl makes this wine more robust and compact.
The manual grape harvest is followed by fermentation of the must with temperature control. After racking, a final ageing phase follows on the lees.
It is endowed with a beautiful, intense gold colour in the glass. The nose is lively and tells the typical features of the terroir, with notes of candied quince and cardamom that leave room for aromas of mint and basil. On the palate it is rich and soft with hints of honey that guide towards a structured but very delicate finish.
Ideal companion for spicy dishes, it is excellent in combination with fruit desserts.
