Description
What kind of wine it is
The Amarone della Valpolicella Satinato by Montresor is made from a blend of Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella grapes. Its structured profile delivers a warm and enveloping sip. The production process involves careful drying and fermentation on the skins, followed by maturation in wood that gives the wine its balanced character.
Where it comes from
This wine originates in the oldest area of the hilly Valpolicella, in the heart of the province of Verona. Its territorial identity is deeply linked to the denomination Amarone della Valpolicella, which strictly defines its origins and production methods. The range it belongs to is easily recognizable thanks to the iconic frosted bottle, a distinctive mark patented by the winery in 1921.
How it is made
The winemaking process starts with a manual harvest, fundamental to keep the grape bunches intact for the winter drying in special crates. After a gentle pressing, the must undergoes fermentation in contact with the skins. The next stage of maturation takes place in oak barrels for about eighteen months and is finally completed by a carefully timed bottle aging before release to market.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it displays a deep and compact ruby red color. The bouquet reveals clear aromas of ripe red fruit, enriched with nuances of black cherry and hints of sweet spices. On the palate, it is warm and velvety, supported by an enveloping progression and a soft texture. The finish is persistent, featuring ongoing spicy echoes and elegant fruity returns.
Food pairings
Its softness makes it perfect for accompanying structured and intense dishes, flawlessly supporting complex preparations. It pairs very well with game and aged cheeses, enhancing the interplay of spices and fruit. Locally, it creates a great synergy with slow-cooked meats, ensuring remarkable palate persistence throughout the meal.
When to serve
This red is the ideal choice for important dinners, where a bold, consistent presence at the table is needed. Its warm profile makes it suitable to accompany an entire menu based on robust dishes. It can be enjoyed immediately to appreciate its readiness, or left to rest in the cellar to further develop its complexity and spicy components over time.
