Description
What kind of wine it is
Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva by Casa Lupo is a structured red wine made from a blend of Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella. Production involves a long drying process, essential to naturally concentrate the aromas. After fermentation, which is completed in oak barrels, the wine matures for an extended period. The result is a warm and powerful profile, enhanced by remarkable persistence and clear spicy notes.
Where it comes from
This wine originates from the vineyards of Casa Lupo, located at an altitude of 450 meters above sea level. This hillside position provides the ideal environment for the progressive and optimal ripening of the grapes. The Riserva designation highlights a carefully managed and lengthy production process, specifically designed to enhance the territorial characteristics of Amarone della Valpolicella.
How it's made
After harvesting, the grape clusters rest in a drying loft for four or five months, a process that increases their natural sugar concentration. Fermentation starts in steel tanks and concludes inside oak barrels, thus giving the wine greater structure. These same containers are used for the aging phase, which lasts 30 to 35 months, a crucial passage that harmonizes the intensity of the fruit with refined woody complexity.
Tasting notes
To the eye, it displays an intense, deep garnet red hue. The nose reveals enveloping aromas of ripe red fruit and berries, enriched by sweet notes of blueberry jam and vanilla. On the palate, it is warm, full-bodied, and offers long-lasting persistence, a trait that consistently reflects the richness obtained through the drying technique and the patient aging in wood.
Food pairing
Its solid flavor structure pairs well with traditional meat dishes, particularly braised and stewed beef. The intensity of each sip elevates flavorful and succulent game-based preparations. Furthermore, thanks to its dense spicy texture and overall smoothness, it finds a harmonious balance when served with platters of aged cheeses.
When to serve it
It is the ideal bottle to enrich important lunches and dinners, thus enhancing menus with intense flavors. The extended aging in wood gives the wine an aptitude for evolution that makes it perfect for careful cellaring. It excels during slow tasting moments, where it can express, without hurry, the elegance and depth acquired during its long maturation.
