Description
What type of wine it is
Bricco Rocche by Ceretto is a Barolo produced in the Langhe from Nebbiolo grapes. Spontaneous fermentation in steel tanks with indigenous yeasts preserves its regional identity. It features a structured style, with a fine tannic texture and remarkable longevity. Maturation in wood followed by bottle aging creates a harmonious and precise profile.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from a historic plot in the municipality of La Morra, in the Langhe, with south and southeast exposure. The soil is composed of marls of Sant’Agata, a limestone matrix that offers aromatic finesse and well-defined tannins. This specific hillside context favors a deep and orderly expression of Nebbiolo, combining intensity and precision. The Ceretto winery interprets this unique terroir with great care.
How it is produced
Fermentation takes place in steel tanks using only indigenous yeasts. The wine then matures for 24 months in large casks and tonneaux of oak, a phase aimed at refining its structure. After the wood aging, it completes its maturation with 12 months in the bottle to best integrate the tannic component. This process yields a Barolo with remarkable technical precision.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it reveals a ruby red color with bright garnet highlights. The bouquet offers scents of violet, orange zest, and wild berries, enriched by notes of aromatic herbs and licorice root. On the palate, it is deep and harmonious, defined by extremely fine tannins and a delicate yet present aromatic profile. The finish is fresh and persistent, showing great balance and overall definition.
Food pairings
The intensity in the mouth pairs well with robust meat dishes, such as spit-roasted game and traditional roasts. Ideal with the flavors of Langhe cuisine, it enhances typical preparations like tajarin with ragù and aged cheeses, thanks to its dense and velvety tannic texture. Among classic pairings, braised beef stands out for its aromatic continuity. Its citrusy and spicy notes support slow-cooked meats perfectly.
When to serve it
This red is suited for occasions requiring structured wines and for complementing traditional Piedmontese main courses. Thanks to the prolonged maturation in wood and aging in bottle, it has a strong aging potential, making it suitable for evolution in the medium and long term. Appreciated for its harmonious sip and silky tannin, enjoying it in a quiet setting allows its lasting flavor to be fully appreciated.
