Description
What kind of wine is it
Enzo Boglietti's Barolo Brunate is a red wine made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes, sourced from a selected vineyard in La Morra. It is a Barolo crafted for aging, produced in very limited quantities and with a long maturation split between French oak and concrete.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from the Brunate vineyard, in La Morra, in the Langhe, in Piedmont. The vineyard, planted in 2005, sits at 300-350 meters of altitude with south/southeast exposure, on a silty clay loam soil, alkaline and very low in organic matter.
How it's made
Fermentation lasts 20 days at controlled temperature, with daily punch-downs and pump-overs that promote a balanced extraction of color and tannins from the Nebbiolo. Aging continues for 24 months in French oak and another 10 months in concrete, a step that polishes the wine and preserves its fruit.
Tasting notes
To the eye it is ruby red with orange highlights. On the nose it offers floral and red-fruit aromas, including Amarena cherry and plum crumble, with hints of rosewood. On the palate it is delicate, with a creamy texture, a compact body and supple tannins, and it closes with a long, persistent finish.
Food pairings
Barolo Brunate pairs well with red meats, braises and roasts, but also with game and lamb. Its creamy texture and supple tannins complement rich, slow-cooked dishes without overpowering their flavor.
When to serve it
This is a red for special occasions and for those who appreciate Barolo with a long evolution: it has an aging potential of up to 15-20 years. A large-bowled glass and adequate aeration after opening enhance its expression.
