Description
What type of wine it is
Barolo Ravera by Vietti is a red wine based on Nebbiolo that embodies the classic style of the Langhe. Produced with grapes from the Ravera di Novello cru, it precisely expresses the identity of its territory. The winemaking process, characterized by a long maceration on the skins and careful aging in wood, outlines a structured and clear profile. This traditional approach ensures an outstanding evolutionary potential in the bottle, delivering an authentically captivating tasting experience.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from the Ravera cru, located in Novello. The hillside boasts an excellent southwest exposure, an ideal condition to encourage even ripening and to ensure vibrant fruit. The calcareous-clay marls of the soil are fundamental in providing structure and aromatic precision. Vietti interprets the nuances of this precious area of the Langhe with a coherent style, in deep respect for the agricultural heritage of the region.
How it is produced
Vinification takes place in steel tanks, where the must undergoes maceration for four or five weeks to extract color and substance. Afterwards, the wine rests for over thirty months in large oak barrels, a stage that allows for gradual, respectful evolution. A further aging in the bottle completes the production and is essential for harmonizing the tannins and achieving a solid balance between body and freshness.
Tasting notes
In appearance, it shows a garnet red color, a reflection of its extended maturation in wood. The aromatic profile opens with delicate scents of violets and dried flowers, followed by aromas of small red fruits and subtle spicy notes. On the palate, it displays a bold character, driven by dense tannins elegantly integrated with ripe fruit. The progression on the palate is long and well-defined, enhanced by a pleasant balsamic freshness that provides balance and vibrancy to the final sip.
Food pairings
At the table, it finds its ideal pairing alongside roast red meats, thanks to a structure able to support rich and succulent dishes. It is equally suitable with game, where its subtle spicy notes and vibrant acidity balance robust textures. A roast served with its own jus highlights its fruity harmony and makes it perfect to accompany bold and traditional recipes with lingering flavors on the palate.
When to serve it
Its solid structure makes it ideal for important meals. The extended aging in large barrels gives it a remarkable aging potential, which allows it to be cellared for a long time, letting the tannins and balsamic nuances evolve. It also proves excellent for immediately enhancing a dinner based on succulent meats, as the glass reveals a clear progression, great balance, and a clean, enveloping finish.
