Barossa Valley McLaren Vale GI Bin 95 Grange 2013 Penfolds
Description
Penfolds Bin 95 Grange is born in vineyards located in the renowned wine region of Barossa Valley and in McLaren Vale, a place of ancient vineyards, from which the entire wine industry of South Australia has developed. This label represents the most original and powerful expression of the Penfolds company, in the full of its style and personality, synthesis of an important history and a privileged place for viticulture.
It is produced almost exclusively with Syrah (Shiraz) grapes and with small additions of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, carefully picked and selected by hand. Fermentation takes place, with maceration in contact with the skins, in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature. Subsequently the wine ages for 13 months in French and American oak barrels, partly new, before being bottled.
Penfolds Bin 95 Grange is characterized by a very intense ruby red color. The nose opens with intriguing aromas of panforte, figs and quinces, with smoked notes as a side dish. Everything is enriched with pleasant spicy hints ranging from cinnamon to vanilla, from nutmeg to black pepper, ending with hints of mascarpone and hazelnuts. On the palate it is seductive, fresh and velvety, with beautiful tension. It is striking for its volume, its depth and its ability to balance and soften firm tannins in a finish of great structure and length.
Perfect to accompany important dishes based on red meats and game, this red wine is ideal in combination with aged cheeses.
