Description
What kind of wine is it
The Bolgheri Vermentino from Antinori is a Tuscan white wine with a straw-yellow color and greenish highlights. Its style combines freshness and salinity in a pleasant, well-balanced sip that evokes coastal aromas.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from Tenuta Guado al Tasso by Antinori in Bolgheri, on the coast of the Alta Maremma, about a hundred kilometers southwest of Florence. The vineyards lie on a plain encircled by hills, known as the Bolgheri amphitheatre, where sea breezes temper the summer heat and ensure abundant sunshine. Vermentino has been produced here since the first vintage in 1996.
How it is made
Each parcel is harvested separately according to grape ripeness, to highlight the character of each vineyard. In the winery, the grapes are destemmed, gently crushed and given a soft pressing. The must ferments in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature. The different lots are carefully assessed and then blended.
Tasting notes
In the glass it is straw yellow with greenish highlights. The nose is fresh and evokes the Bolgheri coast, with flowers and white peaches, citron peel and hints of aromatic herbs such as sage and thyme. On the palate it is pleasant and well balanced between freshness and salinity.
Food pairings
It pairs well with raw fish, seafood appetizers and spaghetti with clams. It also complements grilled fish and vegetables with poise. A natural choice for light dishes seasoned with Mediterranean herbs.
When to serve it
It’s a white for the aperitif, for light lunches and seafood dinners. A medium-sized glass highlights its fresh, herbaceous notes. Best enjoyed young, at the height of its citrusy, saline vibrancy.
