Description
What type of wine is it
Brunello di Montalcino Banfi is a red wine made from Sangiovese grapes grown in Montalcino. It stands out for its structure and complexity, showing a natural inclination to evolve in the bottle. The vinification takes place in combined stainless steel and French oak Horizon vats, a solution that enhances aromatic precision and gives a well-defined character to its style.
Where does it come from
The grapes come from Montalcino, between the valleys of the Orcia and Ombrone rivers, on well-exposed southern slopes.
How is it produced
Fermentation takes place in stainless steel and French oak Horizon vats at controlled temperature. The wine ages for 80% in French oak barrels and 20% in French oak barriques for a minimum of 2 years. It then continues to evolve in the bottle.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it appears intense ruby red with slight garnet hues. The bouquet offers jammy red fruit, cherry, and plum, with hints of licorice, pipe tobacco, and light toasted notes. On the palate, soft tannins blend with lively acidity, delivering a full structure and a long, composed finish.
Food pairings
This Brunello pairs well with rich and flavorful dishes, grilled red meats, and aged cheeses. Its structure and acidity also make it suitable for game and international cuisines.
When to serve
It is recommended to enjoy after adequate cellaring. Even at an intermediate stage of maturation, the wine shows good complexity and often reaches its aromatic and tannic peak over the years.
