Description

What kind of wine is it

Efeso di Librandi is a white wine made exclusively from Mantonico grapes, a native variety of the region. Fermentation and ageing in Allier barriques help shape a precise, well-defined aromatic profile. This white stands out for its fresh, saline style, enriched by measured fruit and a clear herbal signature. It comes across as a clean, technically minded choice, made to sit effortlessly at the table, perfect for hearty, convivial Sunday lunches or for a dinner with friends in any season.

Where it comes from

This white is born in Calabria, in vineyards within Tenuta Rosaneti, in an area between the municipalities of Rocca di Neto and Casabona. This specific location coherently and recognisably defines the wine’s origin. The grapes used come exclusively from these soils, offering an essential geographical framework to understand the variety’s local identity.

How it’s made

The grapes are harvested solely by hand during the first ten days of October, ensuring careful handling of the fruit right from harvest. Fermentation takes place at controlled temperature directly in barrique, bringing technical precision together with oak contact. The wine then matures for six months in Allier barriques before bottling, to strike the right balance between varietal freshness and structure. The result is a traceable production process, centred on declared timings and materials.

Tasting notes

In appearance it shows a straw-yellow colour lit by greenish highlights, signalling a bright chromatic profile. On the nose it opens with clearly vegetal aromas, led by distinct notes of sage and fresh grass that deliver aromatic purity. On the palate the sip is fresh and saline, supported by a smooth progression and a subtle streak of fruit that never weighs the palate down. The whole maintains an essential balance and finishes fully in line with the olfactory impressions.

What to pair it with

The wine’s fresh, saline profile makes it ideal with dishes based on shellfish and seafood, as it naturally complements seafood cuisine. Its herbal notes enhance the delicacy of raw fish without covering its flavour, while also offering a saline feel that’s perfect with fried foods. Belonging to Calabria’s gastronomic tradition, it pairs beautifully with local recipes such as polpette di neonata or baccalà alla cosentina, and it highlights dishes with direct, Mediterranean flavours.

When to serve it

This wine is perfect to serve during an outdoor aperitif, for casual lunches with friends, or to accompany a summer dinner based on fish and vegetables. Also ideal for convivial occasions and to enhance delicate or fried dishes, always ensuring pleasant, well-balanced drinkability.
