Summary

  • Chianti Classico Grand Selection DOCG Il Grigio 2014
  • Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Campogiovanni 2013

Description

Prestigious selection signed by San Felice consisting of two of its top wines, ideal to accompany important occasions both in private and professional life.

Campogiovanni is a traditional Brunello of great finesse and longevity. The full maturation reached by the Sangiovese Grosso grapes and the protracted aging which it undergoes, on average 3 years in tonneaux and Slavonian oak barrels, can be seen in aromas of ripe forest fruit, well blended with sensations of tobacco and leather . On the palate it is soft, with a persistent closure on fruit tones in alcohol. To be combined with all red meats, game and seasoned pecorino.

The 2013 vintage scored over 92 points from the main international magazines in the sector: Robert Parker 93/100, Wine Spectator 93/100, James Suckling 94/100, Vinous by Antonio Galloni 92/100, Wine Enthusiast 92/100. He was also awarded the Gold Medal at the Sommelier Wine Awards 2018.

The Gran Selezione Il Grigio comes from the most suitable lands. Made from 80% Sangiovese grapes, it is completed with the ancient autochthonous varieties Abrusco, Pugnitello, Malvasia Nera, Ciliegiolo and Mazzese, which give complexity and elegance. It tells the terroir of San Felice in its hints of violet and blackcurrant that combine with a sweet spiciness of tobacco and licorice, the result of 24 months spent in wood, half in Slavonian oak barrels and the other in French oak barrels. It proves soft and well structured, with ripe tannins that bind in a balanced way to the acid component. Perfect with game and roasts, it is ideal with grilled meat and medium-long aged cheeses.

The label shows the oil painting on canvas "Man in Armor" by Tiziano Vecello, on display at the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana in Milan.
