Description
The Champagne Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Le Mesnil-sur-Oger by Valentin Leflaive is made from Chardonnay grapes cultivated in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, in the village of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. The vineyards, located on chalky soils with flint outcrops and a south to southeast exposure, lend the wine marked minerality and elegance.
The harvest is done by hand with fractional pressing to select the noblest components of the must; fermentation takes place in steel tanks and a portion of reserve wines enhances the complexity, while extended aging on the lees accentuates structure, finesse, and depth.
It shows a bright and luminous color; on the nose, it offers elegant aromas of citrus, mandarin, and verbena accompanied by floral notes and subtle hints of hazelnut; on the palate, it is fresh and refined, with a well-defined mineral texture and a long, lingering finish.
Ideal paired with gourmet seafood dishes and shellfish such as oysters, lobster, and refined preparations.
