Description

What kind of wine it is

Chianti Rùfina Riserva Nipozzano by Frescobaldi is a red wine with a structured and harmonious profile, made from Sangiovese with contributions from Malvasia Nera, Colorino, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Its style is characterized by balanced freshness and full body, thanks to fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures and extended maceration. Aging in second and third-passage barriques for 24 months develops soft tannins and aromatic complexity, with solid ageing potential.

Where it comes from

The wine originates from the vineyards of Castello di Nipozzano, in the hilly heart of Chianti Rùfina, northeast of Florence.

How it is made

Manual harvesting between late September and early October, in small crates to preserve the integrity of the bunches. Each variety is vinified separately in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with extended maceration and frequent pump-overs. After malolactic fermentation, the wine ages for 24 months in second and third-passage barriques. A further rest in bottle of at least 3 months completes its maturation.

Tasting notes

Deep ruby red color with purple highlights. On the nose, ripe red fruits such as black cherry and morello cherry emerge, with notes of underbrush, violet, and hints of licorice. On the palate, it reveals a well-integrated tannic texture, vibrant freshness, and a persistent finish with nuances of cherry in spirits, clove, and nutmeg.

Food pairings

Its structure and freshness support pairings with grilled red meats, roasts (especially lamb), and mildly aged cheeses.

When to serve it

Ideal both for convivial occasions and for more meditative tasting moments.
