Description
The Cirò Rosso Classico Superiore by Tenuta del Conte is a red wine made exclusively from Gaglioppo grapes grown in the Armeria and Marinetto vineyards, in the Cirò area. The cordon-trained vines grow on clay-loam soils composed of sandy and calcareous clays, close to the sea—conditions that imbue the wine with freshness, salinity and a Mediterranean character.
Fermentation occurs spontaneously with yeasts obtained via pied de cuve, while malolactic fermentation takes place entirely naturally. Only the free-run must is used after a brief maceration, with no fining and no addition of chemical or synthetic products; the wine then matures for a long time in stainless steel and completes its aging in bottle.
In the glass it shows a bright ruby-red color. The bouquet evokes red fruits, Mediterranean herbs, gentle spices and mineral notes, while on the palate it is dry, fresh and saline, with well-defined tannins, good structure and a persistent finish.
Pairs with flavorful pasta and risotto dishes, roast meats, game, cured meats and aged cheeses.
