Description
What kind of wine is it
The Franciacorta Brut Millesimato by Barbalonga is produced in Lombardy and is the result of a meticulous blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The winemaking process strictly follows the Traditional Method, with a slow refermentation in the bottle that imparts an intense and well-structured aromatic profile to the glass. This process creates a soft and enveloping style, characterized by a pleasant savory texture and crafted to deliver a precise and satisfying sip.
Where it comes from
This wine comes to life from vineyards located on the slopes of Monte Orfano, in the Brescia municipality of Rovato. Grown in the heart of Franciacorta, these hillside vineyards give the grapes their distinctive character. The deep connection between the vines and their homeland is clearly reflected in the wine's style, defining a strong aromatic complexity and a marked savory sensation that consistently echoes the local landscape.
How it is produced
The grape clusters are harvested and carefully selected by hand between late August and early September. In the cellar, the sparkling base is achieved through bottle refermentation according to the Traditional Method. The wine then matures with a lengthy 36-month aging on the lees, a crucial stage that develops fine toasted and spicy notes and significantly enhances its aromatic complexity.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it shines with a golden yellow color, enhanced by a rich mousse and a persistent perlage. On the nose, an intense bouquet unfolds, with notes of dried fruits, tobacco, spices, and measured toasted hints. The palate is soft and full-bodied, with a balanced progression where lively sapidity supports the long persistence and ensures a clean, consistent finish.
Best pairings
At the table, it accompanies deeply flavorful dishes, where its solid structure complements the ingredients. It pairs harmoniously with truffle risottos, balancing the dish's creaminess with a clear savory edge. It is excellent with fish dishes, especially highlighting smoked salmon, and matches beautifully with rich, hearty traditional preparations such as cassoeula.
When to serve
This Franciacorta shines during convivial moments and makes a bold companion for the whole meal. It is delightful as an aperitif to savor its fine bubbles and proves extremely versatile at the table. Thanks to its combination of body and salinity, it ensures balance and great persistence in every sip, perfectly enriching lunches and dinners with a rich gastronomic profile.
