Description

What type of wine it is

Bava’s Rosetta is a sweet, aromatic red wine, naturally lightly sparkling, in the Malvasia di Castelnuovo Don Bosco designation. It shows a lovely cherry-red color, a small crown of delicate bubbles and an intense rose fragrance. It’s a light, approachable wine that wins you over from the first sip, even if you’re not yet familiar with Piedmont Malvasias.

Where it comes from

The grapes grow around Castelnuovo Don Bosco, on the hills of the Upper Asti area in Piedmont, at an altitude of over 150 meters above sea level. The soil is calcareous, light in color, with gypsum outcrops. Piedmont Malvasias are red and aromatic, unlike all the other Malvasias grown in Italy, and at full ripeness the red clusters fill the vineyard with a pleasant rose scent.

How it is made

Rosetta is born from Malvasia di Schierano and Malvasia Nera Lunga grapes, trained to guyot. The crushed grapes undergo a few days of cold maceration before pressing: the free-run must carries both color and intense aroma. After natural settling, the must is kept at low temperature until fermentation in stainless-steel tanks, shortly before bottling. It does not require bottle aging.

Tasting notes

In the glass it is cherry red, with a small crown of bubbles. The bouquet is intense, with wild rose and strawberries. On the palate it is sweet and balanced, with barely perceptible tannins that keep the pleasure of the sip intact. Its naturally lively character supports a balanced, immediately inviting taste.

What to pair it with

It shows best at the end of a meal, paired with fruit tarts and petits fours. Its aromatic sweetness and gentle sparkle also pair well with desserts of fresh fruit and dry biscuits.

When to serve it

It’s a wine suited to festive occasions and convivial moments, from the end-of-meal toast to summer afternoons. Its fresh, fragrant profile makes it enjoyable for totally relaxed sipping too, for example poolside. The label features the stylized flower of the dog rose, recalling its primary aroma.
