Description

What kind of wine it is

Rioja Crianza by El Coto de Rioja is a red wine made exclusively from Tempranillo. The style is balanced, offering a distinct fruity profile with a contribution from American oak that adds sweet and toasted notes. Vinification with temperature control ensures a clean and consistent expression, from origin to tasting.

Where it comes from

It originates in Rioja, a region closely linked to the Crianza style. Production takes place at the Oyón cellars in a modern setting allowing precise management of fermentations. The regional character comes through Tempranillo and a process of wood ageing followed by bottle rest, in keeping with the wine's profile.

How it is produced

Fermentation takes place in the Oyón cellars in tanks of 30 to 45 tonnes, equipped with advanced technology to ensure strict temperature control. This is followed by at least 12 months in American oak barriques, which define the structure and aromas. Before sale, the wine rests for at least 6 months in the bottle, integrating fruit, vanilla, and toast notes.

Tasting notes

Brilliant cherry colour with garnet highlights. The nose reveals fresh fruit, vanilla notes and hints of toast from the American oak maturation. On the palate, it is silky and persistent, with an elegant texture and persistent spiciness through to the finish.

Food pairings

Easily pairs with a variety of dishes, from meat to fish, as well as cheeses and Iberian specialties. The silky texture and spice make it suitable for mixed tables, keeping its balance even when different flavours alternate. With cured meats and Iberian products, it finds a natural harmony, enhancing persistence and the vanilla and toasted notes.

When to serve it

Ideal for social occasions and various dining moments thanks to pairing versatility. After at least 12 months in barrique and further bottle rest, it shows a well-defined profile between fruit and wood notes. A fitting choice when you want a dependable red, with vanilla and toasted nuances and a persistent mouthfeel throughout the meal.
