Description
Noelia Ricci's Godenza is an elegant expression of Romagna Sangiovese, sourced from the Vigna Godenza, set on the hills of San Cristoforo in Predappio, at 300–340 meters elevation. The vineyards, planted in 1999 on ancient terraces, sink their roots into ochre clay and calcareous marl with some sand, lending the wine character and a strong sense of place.
Harvest is carried out by hand in the last week of September, with grape selection in small crates. Fermentation is spontaneous in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats, with a long 45-day maceration on the skins. Malolactic fermentation follows, with no fining or filtration, to preserve the varietal expression. The wine ages for 12 months in raw concrete tanks, followed by at least 9 months of bottle rest.
Brilliant ruby red in color, the nose opens with intense aromas of cherry and wild berries, enriched by Mediterranean nuances and a delicate saline touch. The palate is juicy and inviting, medium-bodied, with fine-grained tannins and a pronounced saline edge that brings balance and freshness.
Perfect with tomato-based fish soup, pasta with meat ragù, cured meats and charcuterie, roast and grilled meats, smoked fish, and vegetable risotto.
