Cape Town Pinotage WO 2020 Diemersdal

From an historic wine-growing reality such as that of Diemersdal, now in its sixth generation, comes an expression of the local red berry tradition: Pinotage, a cross between the Cinsault and Pinot Noir varieties developed in 1925, and today a significant exponent of viticulture of South Africa.

The grapes are harvested from vineyards on a clay soil and kissed by a refreshing breeze coming directly from the nearby Atlantic Ocean. In particular, the vineyard dedicated to Pinotage consists of a single plot, located to the north, characterized by a peculiar clay-based soil with abundant supply of organic substance, the so-called "Red Hutton". The harvest takes place during the early hours of the morning and brings the grapes to full maturation in the cellar, which are subjected to maceration and fermentation, both alcoholic and malolactic in steel. The wine is then racked into oak barrels where it remains for 14 months.

It is presented in an intense ruby red robe. The bouquet perceived on the nose plays on tones of dark and red fruit, spices and chocolate. In the mouth it is full-bodied, soft and has an elegant tannic texture. The notes of the fruit and spices emerge, as well as the softer and more persuasive notes of chocolate, and everything persists in a great balance.

Ideal to accompany a stewed beef stew.
