Luca Gardini
An officinal and tense Sauvignon, with a nice citrus boost, a nose of lemon sage, then lime, white-fleshed walnut-peach and mint. Brackish-taut mouth, with citrus-officinal return. Nice length.

Description

What kind of wine it is

The Sauvignon by Blumenfeld is a white wine that precisely expresses the character of its grape variety. Made entirely from Sauvignon grapes, it stands out for its clear aromatic profile and pleasant freshness, maintained thanks to careful work in the cellar. Fermentation and aging in stainless steel at controlled temperatures ensure the preservation of vegetal and fruity notes, offering a fresh and delicate drink. This is a white wine with good structure, featuring an immediate style and a pleasantly persistent finish on the palate.

Where it comes from

This white originates from the hills surrounding the town of Bolzano, in the Alto Adige area. The position on the slopes embracing the wine region gives the wine a naturally fresh stamp and clear aromatic precision. The whole area is renowned for its penchant toward producing varietal-driven whites that skillfully deliver well-defined aromas. The hilly origin thus represents the essential trait that defines the measured and fragrant style of this label.

How it's produced

The grape harvest takes place carefully between mid and late September, ensuring selection of the berries before processing. The winemaking process begins with a gentle pressing, followed by fermentation of the must at controlled temperatures. All steps and subsequent refinement occur exclusively in stainless steel tanks, a technical choice aimed at preserving aromatic clarity and consistent fermentation. This aging period allows the best freshness characteristics to remain unaltered before bottling.

Tasting notes

In the glass it appears straw yellow in color, enhanced by bright greenish reflections. The olfactory profile opens with the typical vegetal notes of the grape variety, most notably tomato leaf, sage, and nettle, balanced by floral nuances of acacia. The bouquet is completed by a clear, defined fruity component, ranging from yellow peach to lime. On the palate, the sip is fresh and delicate, supported by good structure and a persistently lingering aftertaste that extends the varietal notes.

Food pairings

Thanks to its vegetal profile and marked freshness, this white is perfect as an aperitif wine. At the table, it effectively accompanies asparagus-based dishes or fish preparations, enhancing their flavors with every agile and clean sip. Among suggested pairings, try it with a plate of pumpkin canederli served with leek and sage, where the wine’s aromatic notes perfectly echo the key ingredients of the dish.

When to serve it

This is the bottle to choose whenever you want a white wine with easy drinkability, capable of delivering clear and well-defined aromas. Its production focused on maintaining freshness makes it suitable for convivial moments, from simple aperitifs to entire meals. Its organoleptic characteristics shine during fish- or vegetable-based lunches and dinners, ensuring good balance and a pronounced clean taste. Serving it with care will highlight the full varietal aromatic component and the enjoyable persistent finish.
