Description

What kind of wine it is

The Rosato Toscana from Croce di Mezzo is a rosé wine made from Sangiovese Grosso grapes grown in Montalcino. Vinification in stainless steel with a brief maceration on the skins and temperature-controlled fermentation maintains a fresh and linear profile. Aging in steel enhances fruitiness and savoriness, offering an immediate and versatile style suitable for a variety of occasions.

Where it comes from

This rosé originates from the eastern part of Montalcino, with vineyards located at about 480 meters above sea level. The hilly origin and altitude contribute to a fresh and lively profile, highlighting the typical character of Sangiovese in a more agile version.

How it is made

The Sangiovese Grosso grapes are harvested exclusively by hand with careful selection of the bunches. The must remains in contact with the skins for a short period, extracting color and aromas without excessive tannins. Fermentation in stainless steel at a controlled temperature preserves the primary aromas, then aging continues in steel without wood contact to ensure cleanliness and freshness.

Tasting notes

Visually, it displays a delicate and bright pink hue. On the nose, it reveals clear notes of grapefruit, ripe citrus, and hints of exotic fruit with a subtle floral undertone. On the palate, it is fresh and smooth, with dynamic acidity and a clean finish. The savory component supports persistence, making the sip balanced and pleasant.

Food pairings

Ideal as an aperitif, it pairs well with light appetizers, seasonal vegetables, and summer dishes featuring tomato and aromatic herbs. Suitable for delicate first courses, grain salads, and shellfish-based dishes such as prawns or langoustines. It also goes well with stewed fish and traditional recipes like seafood spaghetti or panzanella.

When to serve it

This rosé is best enjoyed on informal occasions, outdoor lunches, and light dinners, but it can also accompany a full seafood meal without difficulty. Serve it chilled, between 10 and 12 °C, in a medium-sized glass to enhance its citrus notes. Designed for youthful consumption, it maintains fragrance and vibrancy in the first months after release and gives its best within two years.
