Description
What kind of wine it is
Solengo di Argiano is a Tuscan red wine with a full and well-defined profile. It is made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Sangiovese. This blend combines a solid structure with remarkable freshness, offering velvety tannins and a broad aromatic profile reminiscent of dark fruits and toasted nuances. It is a wine with a modern character, suitable for flavorful dishes in attentive dining settings.
Origin
This red comes from vineyards aged between fifteen and twenty-two years, rooted in alluvial soils rich in sand and calcareous marl. The parcels are located at an altitude between 280 and 310 meters above sea level. This combination helps maintain a measured balance between the ripeness of the grapes and tasting tension.
How it is produced
Grapes are harvested at full maturity in October. The different varieties undergo a separate fermentation, followed by about twenty days of skin maceration to extract color and structural components. The wine then matures for about eighteen months in specially selected French oak barriques. This slow wood aging refines the aromatic profile and polishes the palate feel.
Tasting notes
It presents an intense ruby red color. The nose is rich and generous, dominated by clear hints of dark fruits merging with elegant sensations of chocolate and coffee, integrated by a striking boisé component. On the palate it is powerful yet supported by vibrant freshness that keeps it composed and smooth. The tasting finishes with a lingering ending and soft tannins.
Pairings
At the table, it shows outstanding affinity with meat ragù pasta dishes, enhancing their aromatic complexity without losing balance. It is particularly well suited for game or red meat preparations, grilled or roasted. In these pairings, its distinctive freshness and balanced tannins help cleanse the palate and create a structured tasting experience.
When to serve it
It is an ideal red wine to serve with bold dishes and meat-based dinners. Thanks to its prolonged maturation, it benefits from proper aeration before serving, allowing the fruit and toasted notes to express themselves fully. It fits perfectly with convivial autumn or winter occasions. It retains a vibrant energy that allows it to evolve positively even after time spent in the cellar.
