Description
What kind of wine it is
Villa Antinori Rosso di Antinori is a Tuscan red wine with a structured and enveloping profile. It is the result of a blend of Sangiovese, accompanied by Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah, accurately selected to create a harmonious balance. The winemaking process involves fermentation in steel tanks and maceration on the skins, followed by malolactic fermentation. The subsequent aging in oak barriques and bottle refinement shape its full character, enriched by a soft tannic texture and spicy notes.
Where it comes from
This red has its roots in the Tuscany region, an ideal territory to enhance the qualities of the grapes used. Production reflects the Antinori family's historical expertise in blending management, aimed at enhancing each individual variety in a complementary manner. The geographic origin gives the wine a clear sensory footprint, ensuring a perfect synergy among fruit, structure, and the area’s natural winemaking vocation. The aim is to offer a true expression of the landscape through a precise balance between ripeness and freshness.
How it is produced
The creation of this red starts with a manual harvest, carried out between late September and the first days of October. The bunches are subjected to a gentle pressing, after which the must is transferred into steel tanks. Fermentation takes place with an eight to twelve day maceration on the skins, allowing for controlled extraction of color and aromas. At the end of this phase, the wine completes malolactic fermentation and moves to aging in oak barriques, then further ages in the bottle to fully integrate its fruity and spicy components.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it displays an intense, compact ruby red color. The nose reveals a complex bouquet, led by aromas of ripe fruit, cherry, and plum, well integrated with elegant notes of vanilla and pepper from the wood aging. On the palate, it is round and full-bodied, supported by sweet and velvety tannins that provide a coherent and even progression. The sip closes with a long finish and a pleasantly savory note, leaving a harmonious memory of spices and red fruit.
Pairings
Thanks to its soft tannins and enveloping structure, this wine is an excellent match for game and red meats. It is ideal alongside flavorful Tuscan cuisine, such as stewed wild boar, enhancing its intensity and succulence. It also pairs perfectly with a Florentine steak, where fruity notes and savoriness balance the fat and the char of the grill. It is equally suited for roasts or grilled main courses with simple seasoning.
When to serve it
This wine proves to be the perfect choice for lunches and convivial dinners, especially when the menu features medium to intensely flavored meat dishes. It’s a red you can enjoy any time of year, though its structure and spicy notes are particularly appreciated during the cooler seasons. To let the aromatic profile fully express itself, it’s recommended to open the bottle a little in advance of serving time. Serving at a suitable temperature for medium-bodied reds will emphasize its persistence and overall balance.
