Description
What kind of wine is it
Torrione is a red wine Toscana IGT produced by Petrolo, obtained from a blend of Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon that interprets Tuscan tradition with a contemporary style; it stands out for a balanced profile between structure and finesse, where the character of the region remains central and clearly recognizable.
Where does it come from
This wine is born in Valdarno di Sopra, in Tuscany, within the Petrolo estate, where the grapes come from different company vineyards located on soils rich in galestro and alberese; the blending of different parcels contributes to creating a complete expression of the territory, combining structure, freshness, and aromatic complexity.
How it is made
Production involves hand harvesting with careful selection of bunches and berries, followed by fermentation with indigenous yeasts in vitrified cement tanks and gentle pump-overs; malolactic fermentation takes place spontaneously in wood, while aging occurs among cement, large casks, tonneaux, and French oak barriques, allowing a gradual integration of each component.
Tasting notes
In the glass it shows an intense ruby red color. On the nose, notes of cherry, plum and wild berries emerge, accompanied by hints of earth, sweet spices and light sensations of cocoa and hazelnut; the palate is soft and enveloping, with a silky texture, good freshness, and a long, balanced finish.
Food pairings
At the table, it pairs well with red meats, roasts, braised dishes, and game. The structure and smoothness of the sip complement rich and flavorful preparations, enhancing the succulence of the dishes.
When to serve it
It is ideal for convivial occasions or structured dinners, especially when the menu includes intense dishes; its balanced combination of freshness and structure makes it enjoyable even when young, with a good ability to evolve over time.
