Description

What kind of wine is it?

Vosne-Romanée Les Champs Perdrix from Domaine Bruno Clair is a still red wine from Burgundy made from Pinot Noir. It stands out for its elegant and structured style, offering pure fruit, balanced spices, and fine tannins. The winemaking focuses on gentle extraction and extended aging in oak barrels, allowing the aromas to integrate with the structure. The result is a precise and complex wine designed for those seeking depth and definition without excess.

Where does it come from?

This wine originates in Vosne-Romanée, at the heart of the Côte de Nuits in Burgundy. The Les Champs Perdrix vineyard benefits from an east–southeast exposure, which ensures even ripening of the Pinot Noir and preserves freshness. Clay-limestone soils and an underlying Comblanchien limestone bed provide refined structure and elegant tannin texture. The continental climate, with significant temperature swings, preserves the wine's aromatic clarity.

How is it produced?

Production includes careful grape selection and the use of a portion of whole clusters. Maceration lasts 10–15 days in wooden containers, gradually extracting color and tannins to preserve the fruit's integrity. Aging continues for 18–20 months in partially new oak barrels, encouraging slow oxygenation and integration of the wine's components.

Tasting notes

Bright ruby red in the glass, with the typical transparency of Pinot Noir. The nose reveals ripe red fruits, cherry and raspberry, followed by fine spices and subtle sweet wood notes. Balanced on the palate with a taut entry, delicate tannins, and an acidic backbone that supports drinkability. The finish is long and precise, with lingering fruit and spice, and a clean closure.

Food pairings

Pairs well with pasta dishes featuring meat ragù and aged cheeses of medium and long maturation. The structure and refined tannins also suit roast meats and stews, such as boeuf bourguignon or coq au vin. Its elegance enhances flavorful dishes without overpowering them, bringing out spicy notes and persistence.

When to serve

Ideal for occasions where a refined and deep red is desired to accompany savory cuisine. Enjoyable while young for its fruit and precision, yet shows good aging potential thanks to acidity and tannic structure.
