Tequila is an alcoholic beverage of Mexican origin obtained by distillation of blue agave, produced in the homonymous city of Tequila and its immediate vicinity, in the state of Jalisco. The main types of tequila include Tequila Blanco, which can be left to age in steel, Tequila Reposado which ages for at least 3 months in white oak from France and the United States, new or previously containing whiskey or wine, and Tequila Añejo, whose aging takes place for at least 12 months in barrels that previously contained Tequila Reposado or other spirits, acquiring a dark color and a bouquet rich in aromas. Traditionally served with salt and lime, tequila enters as the main ingredient of well-known cocktails such as Tequila Sunrise and Tequila Bum Bum.
