A name with wine links going back to 1141, the year that Castello di Brolio was purchased, Barone Ricasoli is one of the oldest family businesses in the world. Its fame is down to Barone Bettino Ricasoli, a Risorgimento-era politician who made both Italian and wine history: Italy's second Prime Minister after Emilio Cavour, Ricasoli created the Sangiovese-based grape blend which has been used for making Chianti for almost 150 years and on which current production standards are based.
