Donato Angiuli
Donato Angiuli is a family winery from Adelfia, in the province of Bari, at the heart of the production area of Primitivo DOP Gioia del Colle, in Puglia. Winegrowers since 1880, the Angiuli family have passed their passion for wine down from father to son for three generations: today the estate is led by Donato Angiuli together with his sons Vito and Giuseppe.
Since 1880 the philosophy has remained the same: the land must be respected. This is why the winery cultivates native varieties such as Primitivo and Nero di Troia, chosen for their ability to adapt to the soils and the microclimate of the area.
The flagship is the Maccone line, named after the dialect nickname of the estate’s first cellar master, a well-known figure in the local agricultural world for his character and expertise. It comes from old bush-trained vineyards with an average age of 50-80 years, where each vine produces very few clusters, all to the benefit of quality. Alongside Maccone, the range comprises the Angiuli and Adelphos lines and also includes a Brut sparkling wine made by the ancestral method, re-fermented in bottle without the addition of yeasts or sugars.
The wines have earned accolades such as the 2021 Quattro Viti for Maccone Nero di Troia Passito and first place in the Primitivo category at Dolce Puglia 2021.
Family tradition, old vines and native grapes make Donato Angiuli a true exponent of Primitivo di Gioia del Colle and of the great wines of Puglia.
