Villa Bucci
Villa Bucci is a Marche estate based in Ostra Vetere, in the province of Ancona, on the inland hills a few kilometers from Senigallia and the sea. Considered a symbol of Verdicchio, it boasts a winemaking tradition of over three centuries, while the first wines bottled under its own label were released in 1983.
For over forty years the winery was led by Ampelio Bucci, who built its international reputation. In 2024 Villa Bucci became part of Oniwines, led by Federico Veronesi, in a passing of the baton between two Italian families recounted in the book “Villa Bucci”. The long-standing team continues the artisanal work and the estate’s production philosophy remains unchanged.
The vineyards cover 41 hectares, 37 of which are planted to Verdicchio and the remainder to Montepulciano and Sangiovese, and have been farmed organically for over thirty years. Limestone-clay soils give the wines structure, complexity and minerality, and the oldest vines are over 60 years old. The grapes are harvested and sorted by hand, and each vineyard is vinified separately.
In the cellar, maturation takes place in large Slavonian oak casks approaching a century in age, which no longer impart substances to the wine but foster natural micro-oxygenation. The range includes Bucci Classico Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi DOC, the renowned Villa Bucci Riserva Castelli di Jesi Verdicchio Riserva DOCG Classico, and the reds Rosso Piceno DOC Villa Bucci Rosso and Pongelli.
Elegance, minerality and respect for the land define Villa Bucci’s Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi.
