Once upon a time, in a mythical time with blurred outlines, on the hot summer days of Salento, there were women bent over the wheat, gleaning the harvest. Legend has it that these women were often stung by the tarantula and, seized by a feverish fervor, were forced to start a dance with ancestral and frenetic rhythms, to the vibrant sound of a tambourine: that dance was the pizzica, the women were the tarantate and men played this melody of ancient memory, while drinking wine.

Salento is all of this, a mythical land where the nights are warm and imbued with magic: today, almost a hundred years after the phenomenon of tarantism, the pizzica is played in a traveling festival which culminates in Melpignano. The night of the Taranta, a night-long party, where singers, musicians and artists from all over the world perform, and where wine, together with songs and music, is the undisputed protagonist of the evening. To better honor the party, we have thought of a special selection of Salento wines to make your Notte della Taranta unforgettable.
