Piedmont Special
Piedmont is one of Italy’s most prestigious wine regions, renowned for the quality and variety of its wines, thanks to its unique climate and hilly terrain. At the heart of Piedmont’s production are two excellent denominations: Barolo and Barbaresco, both produced from Nebbiolo grapes. Barolo , known as the “king of wines,” has a robust and structured character, with complex notes of dark fruits, spices and a firm tannin that makes it suitable for aging. Barbaresco , called the “queen” for its elegance, has a refined aromatic profile, less tannic than Barolo but equally intriguing, with hints of red fruits and sweet spices. Both of these wines are among the most renowned in the world, representing the excellence of Piedmont.
Alongside these two protagonists, other Piedmontese wines stand out for their unique character and tradition. Barbera , in its various declinations such as Barbera d'Asti and Barbera d'Alba, is a versatile and fruity wine, with good acidity and notes of red fruits, also ideal for pairing with numerous local dishes. Among the whites, Gavi stands out, fresh and delicate, with aromas of citrus and white flowers, while Moscato d'Asti , sweet and aromatic, is famous for its scents of flowers and peaches and for the light effervescence that makes it pleasant and light. These denominations make Piedmont one of the most diversified and appreciated wine regions in Italy.
