The Lagavulin distillery is located on the south coast of the Scottish island of Islay, in Port Ellen, near the renowned Dunvvaig castle. It is said that the same area, since 1742, had hosted numerous clandestine brandy producers and that since 1816 it had become home to the first legal distillery, Kildalton.
Ardmore, the first name of Lagavulin, was born instead the following year, by Archibald Campbell, which was founded with the previous one only in 1837 giving life to a new company, which will host, a few years later, another small distillery called Malt Mill.

To date, the company is in the hands of James Logan Mackie, grandson of the founder of the White Horse distillery , who with love and dedication carries on the tradition of one of the most appreciated and recognized Single Malt in the world. Known for its decidedly peaty, rich and pungent character, for complex aromas and a long and persistent sweet finish, Lagavulin 16 Years Old embodies all the passion and skill that lie behind the long production process, which makes it the Islay Malt par excellence, excellent to accompany those perfect moments of relaxation and meditation.
