Schiopetto
The pioneers of Friulian whites
Founder of the homonymous Friulian company in the province of Gorizia, Mario Schiopetto inherits from his father the great passion for wine, becoming a master of Friulian enology, and founder of the first modern Friulian white.
It was 1965 when he created the first pure “Tocai” (vine now known as Friulano) which transformed the entire concept of Italian white wine.
Traveling around Europe, first as a truck driver and then together with Luigi Veronelli, Mario brings to the cellar the perfect combination that has given life to the inimitable "Schiopetto style": in Germany he buys pine poles for the vineyards and discovers the use of technology in the winemaking process and in France he studies all the methods to make his wines more and more elegant.
Moved by the desire to "give voice to the territory through wine", the Schiopetto Company today follows in Mario's footsteps, taking care of the vines with the utmost attention, mirror of the love for wine and every passage from the vineyard to the cellar, trying to understand the land, the climate and the character of its hills.
The company now has two lines: the "line of flowers", younger and easy to drink wines, which include Ribolla Gialla and Blanc des Rosis Bianco Venezia Giulia, which have been awarded 3 stars by the prestigious guide Veronelli and the classic “Mario Schiopetto” line, which includes, among others, Pinot Bianco (5 Grappoli Bibenda) and Friulano (3 Bicchiere Gambero Rosso).
