The soul of Galicia

Galicia, located in the far northwest of Spain, is a unique wine region dominated by the influence of the Atlantic Ocean, abundant rainfall, and soils rich in granite and schist. This combination results in wines of extraordinary freshness, minerality, and savoriness—rare qualities elsewhere on the Iberian Peninsula. The region is especially famous worldwide for its vibrant, impactful white wines but also quietly produces elegant, vertical, and aromatic reds that evoke the finesse of the cooler Old World wines.

The undisputed king of Galician grape varieties is Albariño, which finds its fullest expression in the DO Rías Baixas, delivering crisp, marine, and citrus-driven whites. Joining it are the elegant and structured Godello, the star of DO Valdeorras, and the floral Treixadura, soul of DO Ribeiro. On the red side, Galicia is experiencing a genuine renaissance thanks to native varieties like Mencía, which produces fresh, juicy wines full of red berry and spice notes. These are complemented by unique local grapes such as Caíño Tinto and Sousón, notable for their vibrant acidity and deep connection to the Atlantic terroir.
