Description
The Valpolicella Ripasso Valpantena from Bertani originates from vineyards on the hills of Valpantena, a valley northeast of Verona, in the broader Valpolicella area.
It is made mainly with Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella grapes. This wine is obtained through a second fermentation, locally called ripasso. In January/February, the fresh young Valpolicella of the vintage is refermented on the still slightly sugary skins of Amarone della Valpolicella Valpantena. It then ages in barrels and subsequently in concrete tanks.
Bertani’s Valpolicella Ripasso shows an intense ruby-red color. On the nose it opens with fruity notes of cherries and forest floor, enriched by spicy nuances and hints of chocolate. On the palate, the tannins are grippy, and the sip is fleshy and savory.
Perfect to accompany pasta dishes, this red wine is ideal with grilled meats, roasts and medium-aged cheeses.
