Description

What kind of wine is it

Barbaresco Riserva Montestefano by Produttori del Barbaresco is a red wine made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes in the Langhe, in southern Piedmont. This Barbaresco stands out for its structured and profound style, characterized by a well-defined tannin and remarkable aromatic breadth. Vinification involves a long maceration followed by slow aging, which ensures a well-integrated texture and a persistent finish.

Where does it come from

The renowned Montestefano cru is located in the Langhe, on the pre-Alpine hills of Piedmont, and represents one of the most recognizable territorial expressions. The vines grow on clay-limestone soils and benefit from a southern exposure, the ideal condition for even ripening of the grape clusters. In the glass, the wine reflects this geographical combination and maintains a distinct territorial mark.

How is it produced

Fermentation takes place in steel at 30°C for 28 days and is accompanied by a long maceration on the skins, designed to support extraction and complexity. The wine then matures for 30 months in oak barrels, which stabilizes the solid structure and harmonizes the phenolic component. The process ends with bottle aging for at least 12 months, perfecting the taste balance.

Tasting notes

In the glass, it shows a clear ruby red color. The olfactory profile is rich and layered, offering precise hints of ripe fruit elegantly intertwined with smoky nuances and deeper notes. On the palate, it shows a full body, guided by balanced tannins in an orderly progression up to a mineral finish with strong cohesion.

What does it pair with

Thanks to its firm tannin and enveloping structure, it perfectly complements hearty first courses, important red meats, and game. This red shines with concentrated flavors and slow-cooked dishes such as braised and roasted meats. In Piedmontese cuisine, it pairs ideally with the classic Barbaresco-braised beef or with a rich dish of tajarin with meat ragù, creating a well-proportioned combination.

When to serve it

This Barbaresco is perfect for important lunches or dinners focused on structured meat dishes. Its solid tannic weave and slow maturation make it a wine to savor at leisure, capable of showcasing a remarkable evolution in the glass throughout the meal. It is suitable for long-term aging and ensures consistently harmonious sipping and a long gustatory progression.
