Barolo DOCG Chirlet 2013 Simone Scaletta
Description
Simone Scaletta's Barolo Chirlet was born in the vineyard of the same name, located in the Langhe, a hilly area in southern Piedmont.
It is produced with 100% Nebbiolo grapes, macerated on the skins in tanks at controlled temperature for about 7 days. After racking, the wine undergoes the alcoholic fermentation process for 10 days, then it is placed in barriques, 40% new and 60% second passage, for malolactic fermentation at 20 ° C for 2 months. The wine is then aged in barriques for 18 months, then makes a subsequent passage in large barrels for 6 months. After decanting in steel tanks, it is bottled without filtration and rests for another 8 months in the cellar.
Chirlet has an intense red color with garnet reflections. The nose opens with fresh hints of small red fruits, notes of undergrowth and dried rose and balsamic and spicy nuances. On the palate it is rich, complex, with fine tannins and a marked acid vein, which give it a touch of elegance.
Perfect to accompany red meats, especially cooked on the grill, it is recommended in combination with braised and important roasts.
