Description
The Barolo Amalia from Cascina Corte is produced with Nebbiolo grapes sourced from the vineyard located in Perno di Monforte d'Alba, characterized by a steep slope and a southeast exposure at 350 meters above sea level. The calcareous, sandy soil rich in stones, along with an average vine age of 10 years, contributes to the complexity and elegance of this wine.
In the winery, maceration and fermentation take place in steel without any filtration or clarification, using native yeasts. The wine then ages in tonneaux or large barrels.
Visually, it presents a dark, deep, and luminous red for a Nebbiolo. On the nose, it initially offers earthy and refined aromas, with a hint of dried fruit like walnut, enriched by mineral and resinous nuances. On the palate, it surprises with the sweetness of red berries, such as strawberry and cherry. The tannic texture melds with the palate, showing a vibrant youthfulness. The finish is dry and slightly bitter, leaving a full-bodied and robust memory, typically Piedmontese.
It pairs easily with typical dishes from the region, but finds its greatest expression with rich meats, roasts, braises, and boiled dishes.
