Description
What kind of wine it is
Barolo Brandini by Enzo Boglietti is a red wine made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes, from a vineyard in La Morra. It has a linear, dense texture, taut and spicy, supported by full, structured tannins. It is a characterful Barolo, conceived for aging.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from the Brandini vineyard, in La Morra, in the Langhe, in Piedmont. The vineyard sits at 400 meters of altitude with a west-facing exposure, on clay- and limestone-rich soils, with a significant presence of sand and gypsum.
How it is made
Fermentation lasts 20 days at controlled temperature, with daily punch-downs and pump-overs that favor a balanced extraction of color and tannins from the Nebbiolo. This is followed by 18 months of maturation in French oak, which completes the wine’s structure and guides its evolution.
Tasting notes
The nose is balsamic, fresh and juicy, not yet fully expressed but airy. On the palate it shows a linear, dense texture, at once taut and spicy. The generous core is wrapped in full, structured, fine-grained tannins, while the finish is ethereal and minty, with balsamic notes adding vibrancy.
Food pairings
Barolo Brandini pairs well with the hearty dishes of Piedmontese cuisine: brasato al Barolo, red meats, game and aged cheeses. Its full structure and fine tannins support rich, slow-cooked dishes.
When to serve it
This is a red for special occasions and for those seeking a Barolo with a long evolution: it has aging potential of up to 15–20 years. Its nose, still opening up, benefits from a large-bowled glass and good aeration after opening.
