Description

What kind of wine it is

Les Pommiers by Philippe Lancelot is an Extra Brut Champagne that expresses the qualities of Meunier grapes. Produced according to the principles of the Champenoise Method, it encapsulates the characteristics of the Epernay terroir. Its style is defined by precise balance, where a creamy texture meets a defined and refreshing structure. The care of the family-run agriculture and the winemaking process work in synergy to deliver an Extra Brut Champagne with a clear and inviting character.

Origin

The grapes come from vineyards located in the Epernay region of Champagne, where ideal sun exposure ensures a naturally fresh quality to the clusters. The Meunier vines are selected through massal selection and are historic vines planted on characteristic chalky soil. This substrate gives the wine a strong identity and enhances the immediate perception of the fruit. The rows are the result of deep family heritage and have been cultivated through generations to maintain constant agricultural quality.

How it is made

In the cellar, vinification is divided between stainless steel containers and the use of barrels, a choice that ensures greater aromatic breadth. To soften acidity and integrate texture, malolactic fermentation is carried out in full. As established by the Champenoise Method, the wine undergoes bottle refermentation, followed by disgorgement in two separate sessions. This meticulous approach preserves the balance between evolving complexity and the natural liveliness of Meunier.

Tasting notes

In the glass, this Champagne displays a bright colour with an underlying fine and continuous mousse. The nose reveals layered aromas ranging from quince to currant, enriched with touches of hay, brioche, and peach. On the palate, a tangible elegance emerges, supported by a refined structure in which the fruity notes are harmoniously woven together. A vibrant freshness accompanies every sip from the start right through to a long, pleasant finish.

Food pairings

The Extra Brut style and the balance between acidity and creaminess make it perfect to serve as an elegant aperitif. Thanks to its lively sip and clean aromatic profile, this wine is also the ideal companion for end-of-evening occasions. Its harmonious profile guarantees an easy drinking experience, ideal for light-hearted conversation and recalling notes of brioche and peach to the palate.

When to serve

To fully appreciate its textural palate, it is best served during occasions that call for a crisp, fulfilling glass. It expresses itself best when serving temperatures enhance the fruity side and the definition of its brilliant mousse. Enjoying it immediately allows you to capture the precision and liveliness of the grapes, thereby maintaining the delicate edge between tension and complexity. Careful pouring further brings out this sparkling wine's structural elegance.
