Description

The Gran Selection Castello Fonterutoli of Mazzei was born from the vineyards located in Castellina in Chianti, in the heart of the historic Chianti Classico denomination.

This wine is obtained from the vinification of Sangiovese (92%), Colorino and Malvasia Nera (8%) grapes, selected and harvested manually starting from the end of September. After the fermentation and maceration processes, the product is left to rise in small oak barrels of 225 and 500 lt (60% new) for about twenty months. This is followed by bottling and aging in glass, before being put on the market.

It is characterized by a very intense ruby red color. The nose offers an elegant floral bouquet, with notes of cloves and red rose that blend well with the typical hints of berries and spices. On the palate it is soft and tasteful, with a large structure well accompanied by firm but smooth tannins.

This Gran Selezione finds its perfect companion in truffle-based dishes, also excellent with aged cheeses, stewed meats and game.
