Description

What type of wine it is

The Chianti Classico by Isole e Olena is a Tuscan red wine made from Sangiovese and Canaiolo. It features a structured and complex style, with vinification in stainless steel that preserves freshness and aromatic purity. Maturation in large oak barrels contributes to a fine tannic texture and greater elegance, offering a balanced and versatile profile.

Where it comes from

The vineyards of Isole e Olena are located in San Donato in Poggio, in the Chianti Classico area north of Florence. The climate of the region, together with the specifics of the land, shapes the wine's style. The area boasts a long winemaking tradition that is reflected in the character of the product.

How it is produced

The grapes are harvested by hand and with mechanical harvesters at the beginning of October, allowing for careful selection of the bunches. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve aromatic freshness. Aging lasts twelve months in large oak barrels and an additional six months in bottle, promoting harmony between tannins and structure.

Tasting notes

The appearance is a deep and bright ruby red. The aromatic profile displays notes of ripe red fruits, blackberries, violet, and subtle hints of woodland and cedar wood. On the palate, it is full-bodied, with silky tannins and lively acidity that sustain its freshness. The finish is long and aromatic, with persistent fruitiness and a hint of spice.

Food pairing

This Chianti Classico pairs well with grilled meats and aged Tuscan cheeses. It also harmonises with pappardelle with wild boar ragù and ribollita, enhancing the dish's structure and freshness. Roasted lamb or kid also find good balance with its tannic profile and acidity.

When to serve it

Ideal in its first few years to best appreciate its freshness and primary aromas, this wine can evolve for six to eight years, showing greater complexity and depth. It is recommended to serve at a cool room temperature, with brief aeration in the glass to enhance its character and aromatic richness.
