Description

The Chianti Rufina Riserva Vigneto Le Rogaie Terraelectae from Colognole winery is produced from a single vineyard located in Colognole, in the municipality of Pontassieve (FI), at an altitude of 420 meters above sea level. The vines, planted in 2003 and trained to low spurred cordon, give life to a pure Sangiovese that authentically expresses the territory. The soil, characterized by a good presence of gravel and low limestone content, provides the wine with a distinct identity and remarkable longevity.

The winemaking process involves a long maceration of 23 days in steel containers, with a controlled temperature of around 27°C and frequent punch downs and pump overs to best extract structure and aromas. Maturation takes place for 20 months in a large Slavonian oak barrel, followed by a 12-month bottle aging, thus ensuring a harmonious and complex evolution.

Visually, it appears with an intense ruby red color. The bouquet is rich and complex, with initial notes of black cherry in spirits followed by minty nuances, leather, and dried plum, evolving into aromas of jam. On the palate, it offers a silky entry, with elegant tannins and a well-balanced acidity. The finish is long and persistent, with an aftertaste reminiscent of licorice and a refined structure.

It pairs perfectly with great roasts, particularly game, and with medium to long-aged cheeses.
